Plant Description

Beloved for dazzling spring displays of pendulous clusters of pea-like flowers in white or pink to lavender followed by long velvety pods. Prune twice annually—in winter to two buds at base of stem and after bloom to reduce foliage load—to promote flowering, which may be delayed for several years after planting. Woody stems exert great strength and must be given strong support. Seeds are poisonous.
