Plant Description
|
Grown most often as a large shrub, this long-lived plant is valued for its adaptability to a wide range of conditions, year-round good looks of dark green leathery foliage, reddish brown peeling bark, and decorative red, orange and yellow fruits. The mature form is more attractive when lower branches are removed to expose multiple trunks. Fruits are edible but have a gritty texture. ‘Elfin King’ reaches only 5 feet, is the smallest dwarf form, and is in constant flower and fruit. ‘Compacta’ and ‘Oktoberfest’ stay under 10 feet.
