Plant Description
|
Gardens near the coast are prime sites for this native shrub able to endure harsh winds that keep it low-growing on cliff sides. In more protected coastal locations it becomes taller with a stiffer, more upright branching habit. Nearly round leaves are somewhat widely spaced along branchlets. Long-lasting clusters of cream-to-rose colored flowers are followed by tart, sticky red berries that can be used to flavor drinks and give this plant its common name, lemonade berry.
