THE HOME VINEYARD

Planting and maintaining a home vineyard can be a pleasant gardening experience that the entire family can enjoy.  A home vineyard can be a garden’s focal point, inspiring discussion at backyard barbeques, family gatherings and neighborly visits.  Homeowners dedicated to growing the perfect table grape will be rewarded with delicious fruit throughout the summer.  Session participants will learn about table grape varieties that are easy to grow and maintain, primary pests and diseases and interesting facts about the world’s most majestic fruit.

Stephen Vasquez has been the University of California Viticulture Farm Advisor for 10 years.  He is a trained plant pathologist and focused on grape diseases while earning his Masters at UC Davis.  He is frequently summoned to his friends and families backyards to evaluate their sole grapevine, only to find that they did not take his advice from the previous year.
