Bring the extensive natural and cultural wonders of local Marin agriculture into your classroom! Integrate language arts, science, math, and social studies with experiential activities that will capture your students’ imaginations!
We will visit ranches and farms and hear the voices of those who work the land, as well as sample some of our Marin grown products and foods. You will deepen your own understanding of Marin and the world around you while discovering multidisciplinary lessons that integrate with your everyday curriculum. The Institute covers the Food for Thought and Food, Land, and People curricula, as well as provides resources, in-classroom volunteers, assistance in using school gardens, and coordination of field trips and work days on ranches.
Special Note: Farm Field Studies trips organized by MALT will be preferentially reserved for teachers who have completed the Marin Agricultural Institute for Teachers course. Be sure to attend this summer so you can visit a farm with your class next school year.
