2008 UCCE Pistachio Production Short Course Materials

The 2008 UCCE Pistachio Production Short Course was held November 3 – 6, 2008 in Visalia, California. The course materials were designed to deliver the latest research-based production practices in a format that enabled prospective or current pistachio growers, production managers, and pest control consultants to better achieve their pistachio growing goals. Speakers covered the following topics:
  • economics of establishment and production
  • orchard site selection and development
  • an assessment of the current cultivars and rootstocks
  • irrigation
  • fertilization
  • training and pruning
  • weeds
  • pest and disease diagnosis and control
  • postharvest handling
The set of course materials includes:
  • A 276-page, spiral bound and tabbed manual covering the topics listed above in depth, plus 178 color plates.
  • A USB stick with PDFs of the actual presentations as they appeared at the Short Course as well as a Word document with links to the websites mentioned in the manual.
Cost per set: $200 U.S. orders; $250 International orders
