The 2008 UCCE Pistachio Production Short Course was held November 3 – 6, 2008 in Visalia, California. The course materials were designed to deliver the latest research-based production practices in a format that enabled prospective or current pistachio growers, production managers, and pest control consultants to better achieve their pistachio growing goals. Speakers covered the following topics:

economics of establishment and production
orchard site selection and development
an assessment of the current cultivars and rootstocks
irrigation
fertilization
training and pruning
weeds
pest and disease diagnosis and control
postharvest handling

The set of course materials includes:

A 276-page, spiral bound and tabbed manual covering the topics listed above in depth, plus 178 color plates.
A USB stick with PDFs of the actual presentations as they appeared at the Short Course as well as a Word document with links to the websites mentioned in the manual.
